Strokkur Geysir, South Iceland

Shooting the Geysir has its own challenges.  We arrived there on 10.09.2018 and the weather was great with blue skies and patches of white clouds.  The sight of the boiling water shooting up high is really breathtaking.

Here are some tips on getting the best shots of the Geysir:

• Use you widest lens to be able to capture the foreground as well as the peak of the geysir. I had my SEL24105G and too lazy to go back and pick up my SEL1635GM in the van (parked quite a distance away). Should have gone back to get it. Really regretted this.;
• The geysir shoots up hot boiling water at a predictable 5-10 minutes intervals.  So, not too worry about missing a shot.  Test out a few compositions before nailing that keeper!;
• There's always streams of people during daytime and you have lesser crowds during sunset ad sunrise. Great shooting opportunity for sunrise and sunsets here;
• Go up to a higher ground to be able to capture a bird's eye view of the geysir.  I didn't go to hill behind, nor did I fly my drone here. One thing I regretted the most.
