I have got an assignment to shoot the Petronas Twin Towers in its National Day celebration mode, with yellow, red and blue lights. This is the first time shooting landscape in a long time, and this time with SONY α1 and SEL14F18GM lens. Most of the shots were taken handheld, just to test out the dynamic range and in-body stabilization of the α1. The first two images were taken on my LS-284C tripod. My first impression of using this setup, the α1 in-body stabilization performs very well with tack-sharp images handheld. Thanks also to the sharpness of the small SEL14F18GM lens. I had to do a little bit of work in cleaning up the images from the tiny rain drops on the lens surface. I have also used the DXO PureRAW to clean up the RAW images from any noise, before post-processing in Adobe Photoshop CC. Today marks exactly 5 years ago when a fellowship of 8 friends took to the roads to capture nature's beauty of New Zealand's South Island. The trip was joined by:
The journey started from 28 August 2016 until 8 September 2016, covering a total distance of 2,480km in the late winter conditions. To mark this special occasion, I will be sharing all the experiences travelling in the two motorhomes, the preparations, itinerary and sharing the photographs captured during the trip. Here is the video from the September 2019 trip: End of March 2021, I had a chance to go for a short trip to Kuala Selangor with my family. We stayed at DePalma Resort Kuala Selangor for 2 nights. The itinerary includes Eagle Feeding Tours, Kuala Selangor Nature Park, Pantai Jeram and Pantai Remis. Eagle feeding tours in Kuala Selangor take place in Pasir Penambang, one of 3 places where visitors may also experience Kuala Selangor’s fireflies. Eagle feeding in Kuala Selangor is a spectacular sight that takes place in Pasir Penambang near the mouth of Selangor River (Sungai Selangor). The brahminy kites are the most common type of eagle you will find here as well as the Whiskered terns. Other species that may be spotted include white-bellied sea eagles and crested serpent eagles. Recently I have come across a new RAW processing software called PureRAW from DXO. DXO PureRAW is a software that enhances the RAW files to open up even more possibilities with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. This has added another workflow to my current editing workflow where the firstly RAW files are opened and processed in PureRAW with DNG as the output. The DNG files are then opened in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom for post processing. The main benefit to using DXO PureRAW is having pure, flawless and noise-free RAW photos. Now, I can go back to editing my old photos that I've set aside because of poor image quality, noise, or a lack of sharpness. DxO PureRAW gives me another chance to salvage those files. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical mangrove forest. These images of the Ashy tailorbird was captured in Kuala Selangor last March 2021.
