LATEST (16/10/2017): SONY FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM lens review. Highest-rated wide-angle zoom (by DX0MARK)  :www.dxomark.com/sony-fe-16-35mm-f28-gm-lens-review-highest-rated-wide-angle-zoom/

Last week, upon recommendation from my buddy, Fakrul Jamil, I've decided to consolidate my lenses, trade in several lenses to opt for the new SONY FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM (SEL1635GM) lens. This will be my main landscape & milkyway lens for sure.

Let me share some of the benefits of this lens after using it for a few days now:
  1. The starburst created by the 11-blade aperture is simply superb, even at f/8 while best between f/11 to f/16;
  2. The lens has a filter thread of 82mm, which fits nicely on my NiSi 100mm Filter Holder V5 Pro, without having to use any step-up ring;
  3. The built-in Focus Hold Button works like a charm;
  4. Better low light performance. Eventhough there's no OSS, my SONY A7RII already has IBIS to provide stabilization. So, no issue;
  5. The copy I have is very sharp corner to corner even wide open, with maximum sharpness between f/8 to f/11.

Here are some of the images taken using my SONY A7RII with the SEL1635GM.

The lens performs very well indeed.  I've got to wait for the milkyway season next year for some astrophotography.  Good day!

Hey

I have the lens already and I am interested in the Nisi filter to pair with it. Is there much vignetting with the filter holder?

Thanks
Jon

Very sorry for the late reply. There’s no vignetting when using NiSi filter holder with your 16-35mm GM. Thanks!
