After several arrangement with SONY Malaysia, the first birding workshop with SONY a1, the new flagship mirrorless camera from SONY, was held successfully in Kuala Selangor on 30 March 2021. There were five participants who were specially invited for this event, which was jointly organized with Studio Zaloon Alpha Proshop. SONY Malaysia was kind enough to have the SONY a1 and SONY a9 camera on loan, including the SONY FE 600mm F/4.0 GM OSS, SONY FE 400 F2.8 GM OSS as well as the SONY FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS lenses for the participants to try out. All of us gathered at D Tours Kuala Selangor at 3:00pm for the briefing on the workshop and registering for the loan units. By 3:30pm, the participants were taken by boat to three locations for a 90-minute eagle feeding bird-in-flight (BIF) sessions. We were greeted by flocks of Brahminy kites and Whiskered terns at the feeding locations. Everybody had good chance to try out the loan units of the SONY mirrorless cameras as well as the lenses. Thankfully, we were blessed with such a good weather till the end of the workshop. I would like to share here some of the images taken with the SONY a9 with SONY FE 200-600 F5.6-6.3 lens, with and without the SONY FE 1.4x Teleconverter. The birding workshop finished at 5:00pm where the participants were treated to a sumptuous seafood dinner at Aroma Ikan Bakar at Jalan Pantai Jeram, hosted by Mr. Chin Yok Fee of Studio Zaloon. We all adjourned by 7:30pm.
Stay tuned for more SONY a1 try & test sessions coming soon!
