Black and yellow broadbill (Eurylaimus ochromalus) is known to have a similar plumage colour as banded broadbill (Eurylaimus javanicus) whereby both species are covered by black wings with yellow markings and have a bright blue beak. However, E. ochromalus can be differentiated by its pink chest and yellow belly, a black head, and a white collar. In Malaysia, the Black and yellow broadbill is a common forest bird and should be readily available in many places when its calls are heard. It usually occurs in the lowland forest up to 700m, logged forest and overgrown plantations. This species feeds primarily on insects, especially grasshoppers, cicadas, mantises, and beetles.
