Spotted Wood Owl (Strix seloputo) is a medium-sized owl belonging to the family Strigidae. It can grow up to 48 cm tall and weigh more than 1 kg. Often, the females of spotted wood owl are larger than the males. This species does not have ear-tuff and its facial disc is orange-buff. It has dark brown eyes and greyish to greenish-black bill. Overall, the upperparts are rufous and chocolate brown with black-edged white spots, while the underparts are buff with barred black and white, in which the white bands are broader. This species is nocturnal and feeds mainly on rats and mice, small birds and large insects. The population occurs in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore. The current population trend of this species appears to be stable, so it is listed as Least Concern in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN, 2016). Commonly known as Yellow-breasted Flowerpecker or Sepah Bunga Dada Kuning in Malay, Prionochilus maculatus is a species of bird belongs to the Dicaeidae family. It is a small-sized bird measuring around 9.5 cm in length. This bird has a short tail, orange-rufous crown, olive-green upperparts and yellow underparts with olive-green streaks on sides of the throat and upper flanks. It feeds on variety of small berries, insects and seeds and utters a monotonous sound of ‘chwit-chwit’ (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012). The Yellow-breasted Flowerpecker is widely distributed across the Sundaland region ranging from Myanmar through Peninsular Malaysia extending to Sumatra and Borneo. In Peninsular Malaysia, this species inhabits the middle and lower storey of primary and secondary lowland forest. It can also be seen along forest trails and forest edges (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012). Whereas in Borneo, P. maculatus is a common resident in all types of forest from the lowland to the hills (Phillips, 2014). Picus vittatus, or commonly known as Laced Woodpecker is a species of bird belongs to family Picidae. It can be measured about 30 cm in length. The male has dull yellowish olive plumage, scaly belly and flight-feathers, and red crown. While the female has a similar appearance to male but with a black crown. This species is an uncommon woodpecker that occurring all across the west coast plains of Peninsular Malaysia, such as in mangrove forests, coconut groves, bamboo thickets and tall, seashore scrub. It feeds on insects, worms, and larvae obtained both on tree trunks and from the ground (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
